Week 10- Assignment 2: Teaching Philosophy

Teaching for me, is making sure my students leave my classroom with the vital skills they will need to advance in their educational careers. With that being said, I believe involving technology in my classroom will do just that. Technology has become a huge part of our world and teaching our young students how to use it is extremely important. However, with that comes responsibility to myself to fully understand the ins and outs of what I will be using in my classroom.

I believe that many students learn best by jumping right in and doing things for themselves. Because of this, the collaborative aspect has become something I like to incorporate into almost every lesson. Technology has made collaboration so much easier and more intriguing for students. Words I go by are that students are more inclined to learn when they are taught how to learn for themselves and not shown the content to memorize. I think having the students learn with technology is an effective way to teach them how to learn and understand. With the proper background, warnings from the teacher, and education, I believe technology can really help the students prosper.

  1. I agree with your statement that technology can really help students prosper. I think it is so engaging and can help children learn from another angle compared to the teacher sitting at the front of the classroom or at the board just lecturing. I also agree with your statement of teaching students the proper way to use technology is important. There are so many positives with using technology in the classroom however, there are negatives when not used in the correct manner.

  2. As educators we are tasked with the duty to equip our students with the vital skills they need to advance in society. One of the ways in which we can ensure this is done, is to include the technological components within our delivery of content. I like you hands on approach with technology. In fact, students learn by doing, not seeing. The application process is vital to students succeeding where technology is concerned.
